We have called Bondi Beach home since 1995. Three decades on Hall Street will teach you a thing or two about how to spend a day in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs — where to walk, where to swim, and how to dress for a part of the world where the beach and the street are never far apart. This is our guide.
Start with the coastal walk
There is no better beginning than the Bondi to Bronte coastal walk. Go early, before the crowds, when the light is soft and the water is that impossible blue. Pass Tamarama — Glamarama to the locals — and finish at Bronte, where the ocean-fed Bronte Baths are worth the detour. Throw a linen shirt over your swimmers and wear something you can move in.
The swim
Back at Bondi, a lap of the ocean pool at Bondi Icebergs is a rite of passage — few views in the world beat it. This is a one-piece kind of morning; we live in a Hunza G Square Neck for the pool and a Fae Swim Honey bikini for the sand. If you have wheels, the calm harbour beaches — Shark Beach at Nielsen Park in Vaucluse, or Camp Cove near Watsons Bay — are the Eastern Suburbs' best-kept secret for a gentler dip.
Coffee and a browse on Hall Street
By mid-morning, Hall Street is where it all happens — and where you will find us. Grab a coffee, lose an hour in the Gertrude & Alice bookshop, wander the boutiques, and drop in to say hello. Come find us at Shop G2, 45 Hall Street.
An afternoon further afield
When Bondi is busy, the wider east rewards a wander. The heritage terraces and boutiques of Paddington — around Five Ways and along Oxford Street — are made for slow afternoons, while Double Bay brings a more polished, European ease. A linen set and slides will carry you through all of it; our Chosen by Tuchuzy pieces were designed for exactly this.
Into the evening
As the light drops, the east shifts gear. Watch the sun go down over the harbour at Watsons Bay, or stay local for dinner in Bondi. Swap the slides for a heel, add gold jewellery, and let a Chosen Satin Strap Midi Skirt or a leather skirt do the rest. The best nights here are the unplanned ones.
That is a day in our corner of Sydney — and the wardrobe that carries you through it. Whenever you are in the neighbourhood, our door is open.
