The Bondi to Bronte Walk, Rugged Up
The Bondi to Bronte walk is a year-round ritual, but in winter it becomes something special - whales breaching offshore, benches you can actually sit on, and a salt wind that makes a good knit non-negotiable. We start early at the northern end of Bondi Beach, wind past Tamarama, and finish at the Bronte Baths where the truly committed are still swimming laps in the cold. The water is too cold for most, but the view is not - and on another day, the walk between Gordons Bay and Clovelly, with a stop at the Clovelly rock pools, is reason enough to pull on your walking shoes again. Winter here is not about hibernating. It is about having the coastline almost to yourself.
